There is a several assumptions about the word poker, the name poker probebly descended from the french word "pokue", which is descended from the germen word "pochen" which means to knock.

It is not totaly clear about from where the word poker came from,the game is very familiar to a parsian game called "nas", but this game started played first, by the french settlers. There is also a british game called "bragg", which means bluffing and played like poker.

The first poker game play, was reported by Joseph Crowell in New Orleans at 1829. The game played with a deck of 20 cards, and four players are betting on which of the players has the most god hand. Jonathan H. Green's book which printed at 1843 describe that the poker game played at the Mississippi riverboats, and the game was spread to the west by the gold rush.

 During the American Civil War, a lot of adition were added to the poker game, each group had their own additoins. Some of the familiar versions called draw-poker, straight poker and stud poker.

At 1875 more poker versions has developed like wold card poker, lowball and split poker. Between 1900-1925 a few community card poker games were developed. The game spread to the world from america bt the U.S military during the wars.
